Scheduling your book club shouldn't take longer than the book.

Nobody wants to scroll back through forty group texts to figure out if Tuesday works. Propose a few dates, share one link, and watch everyone's availability line up on a single grid — no account required to join.

The problem every book club runs into

Someone finishes the book, opens the group chat, and asks when everyone's free next. Five people reply with five different constraints, someone's on vacation, someone else only sees the thread two days later, and by the time it's sorted out half the group has lost track of what was actually decided. It's not that scheduling a monthly meetup is hard — it's that doing it over a group chat means re-solving the same small puzzle every single month.

How Commonhour works for a book club

  1. Propose a few candidate evenings and a rough time window — Commonhour doesn't require every member to be free at the exact same minute, just close enough to see where the overlap is.
  2. Share one link with the group. No one needs to create an account or download anything to mark when they're free.
  3. Watch the heatmap fill in as responses come in — darker cells mean more of the group is free, so the best night to meet is visible at a glance.
  4. Pick the time with the best turnout and send a calendar invite to everyone who's free, in two clicks.

Book club scheduling questions

Does everyone in the club need to make an account?

No. Only the organizer benefits from signing in. Members just open the shared link and mark when they're free — no sign-up required.

Can we use the same plan every month, or do we start fresh each time?

Each meetup is its own plan today, but a signed-in organizer can save the club as a contact group and re-invite everyone in a couple of clicks the next time around, rather than starting the member list from scratch.

What if a few members are in different time zones?

Commonhour detects each visitor's time zone automatically and converts the schedule to it, so a 7pm slot shows correctly for everyone regardless of where they're marking their availability from.
